Opening TEDxSapporo was held at Intercross Creative Center on January 2013 with the theme : Connecting to the Future. It was snowing heavily outside, but 100 audience members came here with feverish excitement. It started with opening talk by Dilip BK Sunar who is the founder/organizer of TEDxSapporo at the beautiful stage. The stage was decorated by students at Hokusho University, who are young and bright. This is all about “Connecting the Future”. Then, this Salon was divided into 2 sessions. “TAWOO” The beating of Taiko(Japanese drums) boomed, chants to the music attracted us even more. It was TAWOO which gave an opening performance. TAWOO is the taiko group from Sapporo which gives the performance over the world. They warmed us up in cold winter with their splendid music and great energies. Some of members are little girls who are no more than 10 years old. They gave us an impression that they will connect TAWOO sounds to the Future. SESSION 1: RELEASE IDEAS AND WONDER “You can be a TEDster” Akira Kondo “Why do I watch TED?”, Akira Kondo who is a TED blogger started his presentation with the reason he watches TED. He has introduced TED videos on…

TEDxSapporoSalon vol.05 was held on October 21 at ICC (Intercross Creative Center) in Sapporo. It was a chilly day, but our venue was filled with the great enthusiasm. We were able to welcome audience more than we expected. This number was the highest among previous salons we hosted so far. Thank you all for your participation. “Positive Innovation” was our theme of Salon vol.05; we have learned the importance of creative and constructive ideas and innovation from our three guests. I will summarize what I’ve learned from 3 main points. “Local to Global, Global to Local” Mr. Yoshihiro Kurashige (digital marketing produce) introduced us his current project called “Hokkaido Likers,” as one of the solutions to the problem that every regional community faces today. In this project, Mr. Kurashige focused on the revitalization of the communities in Hokkaido. With the power of social media, in this case, Facebook, he was able to promote Hokkaido globally. By providing impressive Hokkaido oriented contents in 3 languages (Japanese, English, and Chinese), “Hokkaido Likers” acquired 500,000+ users in just 6 months since its launch on February 2012. Mr. Kurashige explained with his passion the key factors for the innovation at the local level marketing,…

How can we bring a change? TEDxSapporoSalon vol.4 was the place which declared its answer : Idea + Action = Change It will happen when ‘ideas worth spreading’ is shared and collaborative action is taken. We welcomed the right guest speakers who brought a change with that vision. The first guest speaker was Takuma Suzuki. He was inspired by TED talk by ‘Matt Cutts ’ Try something new for 30 days‘, and tried 30 days challenge. He is an IT engineer, so his 30 days challenge was to think of ideas about application and shared it in both of English and Japanese. After his challenge he got a habit of thinking, he changed by getting ideas and taking it to actions. The next guest speaker was, an independent scientist, Dr. Asada Kazunori. We watched his `TEDxSapporo’ the Big Picture’. After that, Live talk by him with our organizers begun. He is a role model of doer. He has developed smartphone applications to help color deficient people with his great ideas, with turning it into action. He said ‘ If we come up with ideas, we can make it’. He has brought change with what he has learned and in collaboration…

TEDxSapporoSalon Vol.3 –The Power of Radical Openness ◆1◆The Power of “JOIN” with Radical Openness ◆2◆The Power of “Discussion” with Radical Openness TED Talk▼ Don Tapscott: Four principles for the open world ◆3◆The Power of “Collaboration” with Radical Openness TEDxSapporoは多くのご協賛の皆さまのサポート、誰でも参加できるオープンなコラボレーションで成り立っています。

Open air in nature discussions, mass exchange of ideas; powered ‘TEDxSapporoSalon Vol.3′ but what TEDxSapporo missed last month was ‘ TED Global 2012′ our presence in Edinburg ; but we brought the vision of TED Global and the theme to our Salon and city naming ‘ The Power of Radical openness’. Rocking by the latest TED talk by Don Tapscott ‘ The four principles of Radical Openness; the crowd admired how simply the nature around us has already given us the perfect example of the strength of collaboration though we among around us has less thought of it. TED has gone viral in Japan the last few months but less know the radical openness of TED, Watching the video of Chris Anderson ‘ The web global innovation‘, the community applause loud when Chris mentioned the TEDx and thanked the volunteers who has spent significant time, night and days with common vision of making a positive change, following the theme our Salon was geared up with meeting new people and knowing each other, sharing and collaboration and bring radically openness among our basics so we can possibly connect to innovation and social good. We also invited our TEDx friend, TEDxHGU will…
